Andrew Borg – Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors

LMAs process of structuring win/win agreement goals was a big take away for me.

As it has been many years since I last studied, I was keen to jump into LMA’s Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors course to develop new skills, enhance my current coaching methods and stay up to date with current leadership principles and practices. I was hoping to put myself to the test and improve my poor work life balance created by the large workload I have managing three different states. To do this I needed to revisit fundamentals of time management. I was also excited to collaborate with people from different industries and share the learning journey as we look to better ourselves, our teams and our organisations.

LMAs process of structuring win/win agreement goals was a big take away for me. They not only make you accountable for your achievements, but they allow clearly defined benchmarks and measurements to be put in place and keep you on track. Some other key content for me included how to utilise emotional intelligence and the power of deliberation, both of which supported me in maximizing my team’s engagement and output. My ability to effectively delegate has also driven empowerment through my Team and allowed me to focus an additional 10 hours per week on my high payoff activities. This has generated an opportunity cost of close to $30,000 per annum, whilst supporting improvement within my personal life given the reduced pressures of work.

The most enjoyable part of the learning process for me what the breakout room discussions with my fellow participants during the interactive workshops. Working through ideas, tasks and action activities with leaders from different business, industries and generations creates a diverse and experiential learning environment that made the learning both fun and real.

I would highly recommend the course. The course content was aligned perfectly with my personal and professional development goals. It enabled me and my fellow participants to build on planning and prioritization skills that deliver results that were measurable. Having the three LMA learning partners involved ensured I would be successful through real time encouragement and coaching.
