Ben Schein – Challenge of Leadership

There was a lot of great content throughout the program, and I enjoyed being able to discuss these ideas in an interactive and experiential learning environment.

Given my Employer has been developing people with LMA for over a decade, I was excited when it become my time to enroll and complete their Challenge of Leadership course. My initial development goals aligned with creating a more collaborative and cohesive team environment whilst implementing several key continuous improvement initiatives to drive bottom line improvement.

Workshopping ideas, challenges and strategies to apply these principles back into our roles was both enjoyable and beneficial. The big ones for me included leading by example, the power of a good plan and encouraging the team to come up with solutions, not problems. Using this learning I was able to create a New Operational Plan which has enabled the team to come up with solutions before issues have arisen.

Overall, I have seen improvements in my team’s engagement and productivity. We have been able to see the measurable success of this through our DIFOT data, the visual state of our workplace and planned approach to daily activities. This has generated a return on investment of over $50,000 per annum.

Personally, I am no longer micromanaging and I am encouraging others to make decisions. I too have been making more decisions and limiting interruptions to my manager.

Thanks to both Hume Doors & Timber and LMA for supporting me through this journey. Happy to recommend this course to others as there is always room for improvement.
