Celeste Cimino – Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors

The Success Formula has helped me to re-gain control of my Life.

At the time I was enrolled into LMA’s Success Strategies for Team Leaders & Supervisors course, I had just been promoted to Manager. I had developed my technical and procedural skills set to a high standard but lacked in key leadership skills like communication and decision making required to lead an effective and efficient team. I knew I had the passion and determination in my field but needed the guidance and support to lead the team in the same direction. Through my learning and feedback, I wanted to build my confidence and ability to lead my team and achieve overall positivity and team/organization success.

My professional goals were set around improving productivity from a personal and team perspective, minimizing daily interruptions, effective delegation of tasks and standardising our processes across the firm with a Workpaper Checklist.

From a personal level I wanted to get my work life balance back and prioritize the things that made me happy so I could be the best version of myself both mentally & physically. This included a gym routine and healthy social calendar.

Coming into the course I had the mentality that it was quicker and easier to complete a task myself than it was to give it to a team member. I have learnt that effective delegation not only develops and empowers my staff to grow in their capabilities but frees up my time to focus on my important activities and increases our overall capacity to service our clients.

My overall attitude has changed since completing the course, I am more open to change and have a continuous improvement mindset for both me and the organization. I value the feedback that is given to me and see the importance of regular feedback for my team. I have implemented a post job review procedure in which I highlight what has been done well and provide areas for correction and further training.

I am now able to clearly define my goals and break them down to successfully achieve them. It has enhanced my confidence to be an effective leader who inspires, motivates, and empowers other to achieve both our team goals and their personal career goals.

The Success Formula has helped me to re-gain control of my Life. The 5 steps consist of ; Setting a goal, developing a plan to achieve it, recognising a desire to want it, having confidence in your abilities & determination to follow through on your plan. I have used this approach to set out my goals around building a strong and collaborative team. Before this Setting a Goal seemed daunting not to mention the fear of failing, but breaking these down into focus goals or small action steps has helped to see some of my goals through thus far. I have also used this mindset with the team to develop their own goals for the overall achievement of our team’s success.
