Luke Palmer – Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors

After completing the course, I now have structured days with a set routine allowing for the first 3-4 hours being dedicated to high payoff activities.

My organisation has enrolled a member of their management team into LMA’s Success Strategies for Team Leaders & Supervisors program each year for the last three years as part of upskilling their workforce, which makes me the third Graduate to date.

Having just taken on a new role with greater responsibilities and a heavier workload, I was determined to succeed but needed some tools to support me. Initial development priorities for myself were to manage my time more effectively and identify activities I could delegate effectively.

The time analysis is a tool I continue to use post-graduation as it allows me to maintain focus on what is important for me to attend to, but also see where I am spending too much time on low priority tasks. The wheel of life was a great reminder of the importance of ensuring I dedicate effort to all areas of life and not just my work responsibilities. This has allowed me to set and achieve numerous focus goals like spending more time with family, taking my kids to football training and weekends away.

No more chasing my tail and ending a day of hard work with nothing achieved. I have also learnt the importance of developing my team and now have the tools to do this. Instead of just looking to delegate my work, I focus on upskilling and empowering my team to take on additional responsibility to increase their confidence and performance.

I was surprised at how relevant the LMA assignments/plan of action activities were. They all aligned with my role and developmental objectives which made it not only an enjoyable experience, but also helped me view situations from different perspectives.

I would highly recommend the course to other people and organisations as it not only has a direct affect on the people doing the course but also spreads throughout their teams, developing more people within the organization. It makes the people doing the course want to inspire others to develop and bet the best person they can be in their roles.
