Client Case Study

SupaShock

“The flexible approach to assessment activities and the time given to help our people take away ideas and apply them to their work challenges and situations is exactly what we need"

Supashock is a global designer and manufacturer of advanced products for defence, heavy vehicles, automotive OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and aftermarket with over 100 employees spanning three locations across Australia and the United States.  The company is also Australia’s leading specialist in performance suspension for street, motorsport and 4×4 vehicles.

Supashock’s values of passion, integrity, respect, innovation and determination drive the company and its people to embrace the challenges they face to deliver innovative solutions with absolute respect for customers. Given this commitment, it should come as no surprise that Supashock invests in the development of the people that make the company an employer of choice in its industry.

Supashock’s Head of Human Resources, Helen Ingleton selected LMA to deliver their High Performance Management course for those undertaking leadership development, most of whom were already degree-qualified in disciplines other than leadership. This course, which was delivered in-house at Supashock, provided a vast array of opportunities for Supashock’s managers upskill and develop their leadership and management capabilities.

Perhaps even more important than developing in these areas was the significant increase in collaboration that the course enabled. “We started to see big improvements in sharing and teamwork, connection and communication, productivity and performance as our people grasped the essentials of leading themselves and others”.

On the process improvement/culture change, LMA’s Operational Excellence Lead Facilitator, Kevin Selwood, began working with Supashock’s production team to help them identify waste, develop, and hone processes, explore continuous improvement projects and deliver a more organised, systematic, productive and profitable operation. Even more importantly, the team is now firmly in control of its destiny and deliverables and confident to address emerging challenges.

Looking back over the past few years of collaboration between Supashock and LMA, Helen says “LMA makes it easy for people to learn. The audio tracks help the time poor. The flexible approach to assessment activities and the time given to help our people take away ideas and apply them to their work challenges and situations is exactly what we need.”

Looking ahead, the relationship that has been forged is set to continue as far as Supashock is concerned—

“There will be more people we will be wanting to develop. We’ll always start the conversation with LMA on the best and most appropriate ways to do so, confident in the knowledge that you know us, and we know you well enough to find the way forward”
