Manager/Mentor Chronicle

As a manager, one of my most important responsibilities is to ensure that our emerging leaders are not only equipped to succeed, but confident in their roles from day one.
That’s why I enrolled both Stine and Nathan into LMA’s Challenge of Leadership (BSB40520 Certificate IV in Leadership and Management) Program.
Having recently stepped into people leadership roles, they were both navigating the shift from being team contributors to team leaders. I knew they had the potential—but to unlock it fully, they needed the right structure and support. My goal was to give them a strong foundation in leadership principles and, just as importantly, lift their confidence in leading others.
Over the course of the last eight months, I’ve witnessed a noticeable transformation. Stine and Nathan have always had natural leadership traits, but the program helped sharpen their communication styles and reinforce their presence as leaders within the team. As their training progressed, so too did their confidence—and it became evident in the way they led, connected, and influenced others.
Their development has made a tangible difference not just to them, but to me as well. It’s been fantastic to see them align with the language, behaviours, and strategies that define effective leadership in our business. That alignment has cascaded through their teams, improving collaboration, clarity, and overall performance. It also allowed me to delegate over fifty percent of my workload, freeing up my time to focus on higher-value activities that benefit the business.
I would highly recommend the Challenge of Leadership to other organisations. It’s a well-rounded, practical course that delivers real-world tools and frameworks your people can immediately apply. If you want your emerging leaders to thrive—not just survive—this program will give them what they need to become competent, confident, and impactful people leaders.
