Paul Maxwell – Challenge of Leadership

I was enrolled into the LMA’s Leadership Program whilst working for one of Australia’s largest manufacturers of running gear and components for the caravan, RV and Agriculture markets.

With its head office based in Germany it is backed by private equity that has a
global footprint in a wide variety of markets.

As the HSEQ Manager for Australia and New Zealand my role worked with a variety of
businesses within the regions portfolio to increase safety awareness and performance within the manufacturing plants whilst contributing to the global objectives.

Whilst completing the “Challenge of Leadership” course and navigating my way through the COVID pandemic, I elected to start my own workplace safety consultancy (Australian Workplace Safety Solutions). The consultancy has allowed me to apply my skills to a wide variety of industries to help improve safety performance of my clients, achieve their safety objectives but also assist in protecting their workforces.

The LMA “Challenge of Leadership” program has allowed me to grow as a business owner and challenge my previous thoughts and performance with regards to leadership.

I now have a greater understanding of the challenges leaders face and understand that there are many ways to deliver leadership.

This understanding is crucial in my current role where I work with a variety of industries and workplace cultures that allows me to adapt my leadership approach based on the people around me and this has been invaluable part of my personal development that allows me to achieve the set deliverables for each of my clients.
