Steven Pease – Challenge of Leadership
For SwitchCo, Steven’s leadership sets a powerful example of how focus, communication, and empowerment can drive success.
Leading with Purpose: Steven Pease’s Leadership Transformation
When Steven Pease stepped into his new role as Infrastructure Workstream Lead at SwitchCo, he faced the challenge of balancing hands-on work with effective leadership. Enrolled in LMA’s Challenge of Leadership course under the mentorship of CEO James Harris, Steven seized the opportunity to develop his leadership skills, streamline team productivity, and foster stronger relationships.
One of Steven’s first steps was implementing weekly one-on-one meetings with his team. These structured conversations provided dedicated time for mentorship, problem-solving, and progress checks. The result was transformative: team members felt more supported, unplanned interruptions decreased, and Steven regained valuable time to focus on high-priority activities.
This focus extended to his own productivity. Tools like High Payoff Activities (HPAs) and Imperative & Important Lists helped him prioritise tasks that delivered the most value. By stepping back from unnecessary site meetings and email involvement, Steven not only empowered his project managers but also saved hours of time each week. This shift delivered a measurable ROI of $87,310 for SwitchCo.
A key turning point came in Steven’s approach to communication. Learning to adapt his style to different personality types—Driver, Expressive, Amiable, and Analytical—allowed him to connect more effectively with his team and stakeholders. Conversations became clearer, relationships strengthened, and collaboration thrived. Encouraging his team to voice their own solutions further fostered a culture of trust, inclusivity, and shared ownership.
The benefits extended beyond work. By applying principles of prioritisation to his personal life, Steven achieved a better work-life balance, creating more time for family, friends, and personal growth.
Reflecting on the experience, Steven describes it as transformative. Beyond measurable outcomes, the course has strengthened team morale, improved trust, and given him the tools to lead with clarity and purpose.
